Renovations

Over the past eight years, guided by the Course Architects, Greens Committee, and Board of Directors, the club has made significant improvements to the golf course. Major renovations include the bunker renovation from 2016-2017, which cost $1.3 million, and the tee renovation from 2022-2024, with an investment of $2.2 million. These projects were executed with the support of contractors, while numerous other initiatives were completed in-house. These in-house projects include the conversion of the pond on hole 10 into a flowing creek, and the removal of a small forest to establish a fine fescue field. Over this period, we have removed more than 500 trees and installed 10,000 linear feet of drainage, resulting in a savings of over $200,000 in outsourced labor costs. (See images below.)

Below are images of the tee renovation project completed between 2022 and 2024. The club undertook a comprehensive reconstruction of all tee complexes, expanded two greens, and enlarged one fairway. Our responsibilities included installing all tee irrigation, removing obstructive trees, laying rough sod around the tee complexes, and assisting contractors to reduce costs.

Below is an example of one of numerous in-house renovations undertaken at Canterbury during my tenure. We drained a dammed pond, dismantled the dam, removed the accumulated sediment, and spread it over a deforested area before hydroseeding with fine fescue. Subsequently, we filled the pond with dirt and expanded both the fairway and the approach area.

Here are some examples of tree removal as well as drainage projects completed in house.
